Abuja | Ariwa News Flash
As political maneuvering heats up ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, has shrugged off growing talks of an opposition mega-coalition, describing it as a political mirage destined to collapse under its own weight.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja over the weekend, Dr. Yakasai confidently stated that the rumoured coalition being assembled to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not survive the test of time—let alone the 2027 ballot.
“There’s no cause for alarm. Nigerians know these politicians. They’ve been tried, tested, and failed woefully. Now they want a second chance to repeat history, but the people are wiser,” he declared.
Coalition or Confusion?
According to Yakasai, those now uniting against the President are the same figures whose past misgovernance led Nigeria down a troubled path. He noted that while defections into the All Progressives Congress (APC) are grabbing headlines, defections out of the party are also a reality—but that’s democracy at work.
“Some are crying foul because they lost elections. But what did they do when they had the chance? Power sector billions disappeared, Halliburton scandal shook the world—yet in Nigeria, silence. These are the same characters now pretending to offer a new vision.”
He pointed directly at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accusing it of wasting 16 years of Nigeria’s development. “The APC came to clean that mess. Now the same people who ruined the country are forming coalitions to return to power. Nigerians see through it.”
Tinubu’s Path, 2027, and the Promise of Continuity
Despite the noise, Dr. Yakasai says he believes President Tinubu is on the right path, stressing that only continuity can deliver long-term results. He urged Nigerians to stay patient, expressing confidence that the next two years would yield clearer signs of progress—especially if Tinubu secures a second term.
“These so-called coalition leaders have no shared vision—only ambition. They will disagree when it matters most, because that’s who they are. Many are even secretly joining the APC. So why should we be worried?” he asked.
With bold confidence, Dr. Yakasai closed with an appeal for faith in the current administration:
“In sha Allah, Nigeria will move forward. The future is brighter under President Tinubu—and 2027 will only confirm that.”
