It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who died this afternoon in a private clinic in London.
The announcement was made by his longtime spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, who confirmed the peaceful passing of the elder statesman.
President Buhari, who served as Nigeria's military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria and the upliftment of its people. Known for his stance on integrity, discipline, and commitment to the fight against corruption, he left an indelible mark on the nation’s political history.
In this moment of grief, we extend our prayers and condolences to his beloved wife, Aisha Buhari, his children, extended family, friends, associates, and indeed, the entire nation.
We pray that Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his deeds, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.

President Muhammadu Buhari was more than a leader — to us in the North, he was Baba Buhari. A symbol of strength, patience, and unwavering belief in the possibility of a better Nigeria.
From Daura to the Villa, from the barracks to the ballot box, his life was one of sacrifice. He endured ridicule, opposition, health challenges, and yet stood firm — a pillar of resolve amidst the storms of our nation's growing pains.
We at Arewa News Flash mourn not just a politician, but a father, a grandfather, a humble servant of Allah, and a proud son of the North whose faith guided his every step. His rosary never far from his fingers, his words always measured, his eyes set always on the hereafter.
